‘Sea Change’ by Kate Cann describes the changing personalities of people that we think we know. The book shows how the ‘cool’ people are not so ‘cool’, through the character of Davinia. Davinia is a spoilt wanna-be princess who is used to getting what she wants whenever she wants it. However to Chloe, Davinia is fantastic. Someone new to get to know, someone that likes her even though she isn’t considered ‘cool’. ‘Sea Change’ shows how Chloe has to deal with the changing personality of Davinia whilst being away from home.
‘Sea Change’ is one of the best books I have ever read. With a gripping yet believable storyline Kate Cann makes the reader wish they were on the beautiful yet fictional island, but without the company of the equally believable but spoilt Davinia.
‘Sea Change’ is perfect as a summer read, the setting, the characters and the plot are wonderful and Kate Cann encourages the reader to not only question the characters and their actions but what we the readers would do in the place of the characters.
