I read ‘Mines of the Minotaur’ over the summer and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is the third in what will be a quartet called ‘The Companions Quartet’.

The main character is a girl of about 12 called Connie Lionheart. Connie is a Universal which means that she can talk to animals and mythical creatures. But something is wrong. Connie is thrown out of the society- the only people that could possibly help her and are supposed to protect her- she runs away and hides in an abandoned tin mine. There she is befriended by a blind Minotaur and feels safe amongst the other wounded creatures that she discovers down in the mine.

I would recommend this book to anyone aged 10-13. I would also recommend reading the other two books first as together they make a marvelous series.
