The bolt on the door slid open and out bounded seven or eight little springer spaniel puppies. One by one they came up to greet me – jumping up, before running off to play with each otherAbout the first puppy to greet me put its paws on my knees and looked deep into my eyes. That was the moment that I realised that that this was the puppy that I wanted to share my home and family with for the next fifteen years.
When we arrived home, I sat down and watched as our new puppy stepped gingerly into my lap and flopped down to sleep. I couldn’t ever imagine him growing into the huge great dog that he is today. We will call him Buffy.
